Chisora - Pulev: what you need to know about the fight. Broadcast, predictions, rates

Showdown of veterans, which can turn out to be quite interesting

On Saturday, July 9, British heavyweight Derek Chisora will face Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev in a duel for the WBA International Champion title. The fight will take place in London at the O2 arena. Sport Arena tells everything you need to know about the fight Chisora - Pulev.

Why is this fight interesting?

Perhaps only because of Chisora. The 38-year-old Briton, if he catches the courage and mood, can give out a really bright duel. Once upon a time, this could be said about Pulev, but the 41-year-old Bulgarian, judging by his last significant fights, lost his boxing audacity, leaving only dirt and rudeness in his arsenal. No, Kubrat remains a cool and technical fighter, but at a high level this no longer works.

But Chisora can and knows how to put on a show. As he already demonstrated at the weigh-in ceremony, where he appeared in the mask of the resigned British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Surely, the Briton has prepared something in the ring.

What are the trump cards of boxers

In Chisora, this is primarily the strength of the chin and power. Pulev has technical equipment: Kubrat had noticeable successes in amateur boxing, and in the pros he often simply outplayed his opponents.

In principle, this was evident from the first fight between Chisora and Pulev, which took place six years ago. Then the Briton went ahead, processing the opponent’s body with powerful blows and trying to bring weighty splashes to Pulev’s head. The Bulgarian, on the other hand, confidently controlled the course of the fight with a jab, and when he found an opportunity, he “exploded” in series, at times locking Chisora at the ropes. And the fighters gave out a couple of bright cuts. Then Pulev won on points, and Chisora ended up in the hospital after the fight.

However, do not forget that this was six years ago, when Chisora and Pulev were younger and each of them had much more strength.

What will the winner get

In addition to the title of the International WBA champion and enough, based on all the components, a good fee, nothing. Chisora and Pulev are still in the heavyweight top 15, but their time has passed. And even the winner is unlikely to get another chance at a championship fight – both fighters have already had attempts to win the title – before their retirement. Fury, Usyk and even Joshua are not interested in fighting them, especially since each of them fought at least one of these boxers (Pulev entered the ring against Joshua, Chisora fought Fury and Usyk).

Plus, talented prospects are on the way right now – Joyce, Yoka, Dubois, Bakole, Sanchez, who in a few years will become the new face of the heavyweight division. The times of Pulev and Chisora have already passed.
