Stevenson intends to fight with Lomachenko

Ukrainian is ready to return to the ring

WBC and WBO super featherweight world champion Shakur Stevenson reiterated his readiness to fight with the former world champion Vasily Lomachenko.

“I feel like Lomachenko and I are great boxers with a great boxing IQ. I also want to commend him. He is a great boxer, he has excellent footwork. I feel like this fight needs to happen.”

“We are now two of the best and most technical boxers. In terms of technique and skill, I feel like he and I are on the same level.”

Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision.

Subsequently, Lomachenko could fight George Kambosos, but pulled out against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In July, the Ukrainian announced his readiness to return to the ring. It is expected that Vasily will fight his fight after a long pause in October.

Stevenson defeated Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision in May to unify the super featherweight belts. Shakur inflicted the first defeat of his career on the Mexican.

On September 23, Stevenson will fight against the Brazilian Robson Conceicao. In this fight, boxing will defend two titles in the second featherweight division.
