Top Rank confirms Lomachenko’s plans to return to the ring

Ukrainian can take the fight against Haney

Top Rank President Todd Duboeuf confirmed the information about the plans of the ex-world champion Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) return to the ring.

“We respect Loma’s desire to serve his country. That is why we did not consider options for fights without him. We decided to give him the opportunity to choose the time when he can say that he is ready. We were waiting for him. His camp contacted him and said that he would be ready to fight in October.”

“We can do a lot because at lightweight we are very strong. But he’s the kind of guy that if we offered him a fight against undisputed champion Devin Haney tomorrow, he’d probably take it. Here he is. He really wants to take back the titles.”

Yesterday it was reported that Lomachenko is ready to resume his career. He can return to the ring in October and asked to pick up an opponent for him.

Recall that the undisputed world lightweight champion Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) announced the prospects for a duel with Lomachenko. At the same time, it is known that George Kambosos activated the option of a rematch against Haney.

Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision.

Subsequently, Lomachenko could have fought Kambosos, but pulled out against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
