The UFC is interested in the American’s victory Colby Covington against Briton Leon Edwards, the MMA fighter’s manager Vitaly Tarasov told .
Edwards will defend his UFC welterweight title against Covington in the main event of UFC 296 on Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.
— Combat can be either very interesting or very boring. The beginning will set the pace of the fight. I see Edwards as the favorite to use his striking. Covington will attempt to separate in a standing position and move into the fight. In terms of combat experience and frequency of performances, Leon is the undisputed leader. He’s on the move, he beat the guy who beat Colby twice. The UFC is definitely attracted to Covington, they will be happy if they have such a champion,” Tarasov told .
Edwards has 21 victories and three defeats, the Briton is on a streak of 11 consecutive victories in the UFC (also during the series there was a fight that was declared invalid). In his last two fights, Edwards defeated Kamaru Usman. Covington has 17 wins and three losses in MMA. Since December 2019, the American has only fought four fights, losing twice to Usman. In his last fight, Covington defeated Jorge Masvidal in March 2022.
The UFC 296 tournament will be broadcast live on , broadcasting begins on December 17 at 06:00 (Moscow time), and on Match! Fighter” – at 01:55 (Moscow time).
