Wilder: I don’t know how Parker got the courage, he used to run away from me

Deontay promised to quickly knock out his opponent

Former world champion Deontay Wilder stated that the New Zealander Joseph Parker previously avoided a fight with him, which is why the American boxer failed to unify the belts in the heavyweight division.

“Joseph Parker ran away from me because he saw what I did to Gerald Washington in 2017. Many times I had to unify the division. But, unfortunately, no one gave me the same opportunity as I did when I agreed to fight other fighters. It’s just sad, it’s my blessing and curse.”

“I don’t know how Parker got the courage now, but I’m glad he’s here because I’m going to punish him. I’m looking forward to fighting him. It does not take a lot of time”.

Deontay will fight Parker on December 23 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The fight will be part of a double boxing evening with the participation of Briton Anthony Joshua.

Wilder knocked out Finnish boxer Robert Helenius in his last fight. Joe Parker, also by knockout, defeated Canadian Simon Keane on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s show with Francis Ngannou.
