The Japanese champion will first fight for the undisputed title with Marlon Tapales on December 26
Fernando Beltran, promoter of the former two-weight world champion Luisa Nerisaid that the Mexican is ready to meet with the holder of the WBC and WBO titles in the second bantamweight division Naoei Inoue in May 2024, if the Japanese wins his next match.
“If Inoue shows good results, we will probably meet him in May. To be honest, I am confident in this fight. This is a very good fight. I truly believe Nery is one of the best, if not the best fighter in the 122 pound division. I think Inoue will wait for Nery and I believe Louis will win the fight.”
Naoya Inoue will next fight with WBA and IBF champion Marlon Tapales. The fight for the title of absolute champion in the second bantamweight division will take place on December 26 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
Nery is the mandatory challenger for Inoue’s WBC super bantamweight belt. The Mexican fought his last fight in July, winning by technical knockout over Froilan Saludar.
