On Sunday, UFC director Dana White announced during a press conference that Yang would meet Yadong on March 9 in Miami at UFC 299. The 30-year-old Russian fought his last fight on March 12, losing to Merab Dvalishvili. Yan is ranked 5th in the UFC rankings in the weight category up to 61.2 kg. Yadong, 26 years old (7th in the ranking), has 20 victories, 7 defeats and a draw. The Chinese are on a two-game winning streak.
