President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev on his Telegram channel, he commented on the situation regarding the death of a teenager during a boxing competition in the Sverdlovsk region, noting that all those responsible will be punished.
The death of a boy born in 2009 during a tournament in Pervouralsk became known on Sunday. According to preliminary information, during the final fight, the teenager lost consciousness after several missed blows from his opponent. The child was taken to hospital, but died in the ambulance. The regional prosecutor’s office opened an investigation and learned on Monday that a criminal case had been opened into the teenager’s death.
“There is a great tragedy in our boxing family. A 14-year-old child died in an ambulance during an unauthorized tournament (held without permission and accreditation) in the Sverdlovsk region. We will provide full assistance and support to the boy’s family, and everyone involved will bear responsibility!
We are taking this situation under personal control and will interact with law enforcement to understand the situation in detail. This tournament has not been agreed with the regional boxing federation. In this regard, I remind and emphasize that athletes do not participate in such events organized by left-wing organizations for personal purposes, which do not respect and do not have state accreditation to organize such events!
I assure you that all those responsible will be found and held accountable! We will provide the boy’s family with the necessary support and assistance. This is our common grief,” the Kremlin wrote on its Telegram channel.
