The former WBO world champion will announce the date of his next fight in a week
Promoter Frank Warren said that the former WBO heavyweight world champion Joe Joyce intends to fight for titles again after losing to Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei.
“He will fight next year. I think we’ll announce the date early next week. He wants to get back on track.”
“Joe met his boogeyman in Zhang. He performed very well in battle. A lot of people said he would probably beat a lot of heavyweights, but sometimes you meet a guy who has you figured out. Joe got it in that fight.”
“Now he’s back to square one and will do everything he can in 2024 to get back to the top. If he does that, we’ll make sure he has the opportunity to compete for the title.”
Joyce lost to Zhilei in a rematch, which took place in London. Zhang knocked out the Briton in the third round.
Zhang and Joe’s first fight took place in April. The Briton lost by technical knockout and lost his WBO interim title. Joyce suffered both of his defeats from Zhilei.
