2016 Olympic Champion Yevgeny Tishchenko was unhappy with his actions in the battle with Kureysh Sagov, but now he is warmed by the thought of the imminent birth of his son.
Tishchenko defeated Saturday Sagov by technical knockout in the fourth round, who could not continue the fight due to a hand injury. Now Tishchenko has 10 wins with just one loss in March 2021 to Tabiso Mchunu of South Africa. In his last fight, Tishchenko defeated Dmitry Kudryashov by unanimous decision in September.
“We didn’t expect a simple fight,” Tishchenko told reporters. To be honest, it’s hard to get motivated. I had a lot of rivals, I went against me Kureish Sagov, who didn’t have much opposition in his career. Of course, for him, the fight with me was a step forward. And I had a hard time motivating myself. There was supposed to be a fight with a serious opponent who remains undefeated, but for some reason he declined. I’m not looking for excuses. Something must be changed. Dissatisfied with myself.
In the fourth lap, he got injured. If the fight had lasted all rounds, I might have felt my boxing. Downtimes like this are tough. Now I’m going to move away a bit, my son will soon be born. I said to my wife before the fight: “Be patient. Don’t go to the hospital. Let me fight.” I am unhappy with the fight, but now I have other emotions. I see big big fights in the future. I want good opposition, and in these fights I will prove myself.
