Tishchenko doubts Anthony Joshua would call him to prepare for Usyk rematch

Champion OI-2016 Russian Yevgeny Tishchenko in a conversation with , he expressed doubts that Briton Anthony Joshua’s team would call him as a training partner in view of a rematch with the champion WBA (Super), WBO, IBF Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, since he refused to come for the first time.

In the first fight last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision. The rematch will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

– You said earlier that Joshua’s team considered you a sparring partner before the first fight with Usyk. Do you expect to receive such an offer now?

I don’t know, I didn’t think about it. Since I didn’t go the first time, it’s unlikely they’ll want to call me back.

– And if such an offer arrives?

– I did not think about it. Myself, I want to fight as soon as possible. God forbid, the next fight will be in September. I want to fight more often, I’m ready for that. Timeouts are a bit difficult for me. I’m doing something wrong, we’ll find out.

Tishchenko on Saturday in Yekaterinburg defeated Kureisha Sagov by technical knockout in the fourth round. Now Tishchenko has 10 wins with just one loss in March 2021 to Tabiso Mchunu of South Africa.
