Fighter Ivan Shtyrkov will be the coach of the Gamers of Fighters team, which includes Russian MMA stars, at the physical martial arts tournament as part of the Future Games, the RCC press service reports.
The international physical sports tournament “Games of the Future” will be held in Kazan from February 21 to March 3, 2024. Eight teams will participate in the physical martial arts tournament, each with four fighters, including one girl. Athletes will represent 10 countries. Shtyrkov’s team included Ilyas Khamzin (welterweight, up to 77.1 kg), Timur Nagibin (lightweight, up to 70.3 kg), Denis Lavrentyev (featherweight, up to 65.7 kg) and Lyubov Salnikova (56.7 kg). At the tournament, athletes will have to fight in the e-sports section and then enter the octagon – the fights will consist of three rounds of three minutes each.
— Preparing for such a tournament is an interesting task for both the guys and the coaches. “Half of the athletes in my team are not playing, so we will implement a training process for them so that they do not fall flat on their face,” Shtyrkov was quoted as saying by the RCC press service.
On Wednesday at VDNKh, the draw for the “Games of the Future” tournament in phygital martial arts, as well as in four other disciplines, took place: phygital skateboarding, phygital BMX, cybathletics and drone racing. In total, at the end of the ceremony, 192 physical athletes from 58 teams from five continents recognized their opponents.
— Russia has now become the center of the global phygital movement and will be its leader in the years to come. People from all over the world attract us, largely due to our ideology of creating a harmonious person through the combination of traditional sports and e-sports,” noted Igor Stolyarov, head of the “Games of the Future” project. .
Around two thousand participants from more than 100 countries are expected at the Future Games.
