Russian boxer Dmitri Bivol called the WBA world title fight with Britain’s Lyndon Arthur a “good fight” and said the International Boxing Organization (IBO) championship belt meant nothing to him.
Bivol defeated Briton Lyndon Arthur and defended the WBA world light heavyweight title, and also won the International Boxing Organization (IBO) championship belt. The fight between Bivol and Arthur took place on Saturday in Riyadh and lasted all 12 rounds. Bivol won by unanimous decision (120 – 107 – all three judges).
– It was a good fight. I’m glad I had this fight at the end of the year. And now I see the path to my goal. I hope my fight with the winner of the Beterbiev-Callum Smith fight will take place in 2024.
— What does the title of IBO champion mean to you?
“For me, it’s the eleventh defense.” IBO belt? It doesn’t mean anything, it’s just a belt,” Bivol said immediately after the fight.
Bivol is 33 years old, undefeated boxer with 22 victories including 11 by knockout. For the Russian, this fight was the first in 2023. Arthur, 32, now has two defeats and 23 victories (16 KO).
