Chinese heavyweight challenged AJ
WBO interim heavyweight belt holder Zhang Zhilei proposed to the former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua fight.
“11 years ago at the Olympic Games I lost to my best opponent. I’m happy that we both have come a long way and have gone through ups and downs in life. Now it’s time to do it for boxing and bring the fight to fans around the world. Let’s do this,” Zhilei wrote on Instagram.
Joshua and Zhilei met in the quarter finals of the boxing tournament at the London Olympics. Then AJ won on points 15:11. The Briton eventually became the 2012 Olympic champion. Zhang won silver at the 2008 Beijing Games.
Zhilei in his last fight defeated Joe Joyce in a rematch, knocking out the Briton in the third round. After the fight, Zhang alternately challenged Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usik to a fight.
Joshua confidently defeated Otto Wallin, who refused to continue the fight after the 5th round, as part of the “Day of Reckoning” on Saturday night. Anthony stated that he was ready to fight the next fight with anyone.
