The Japanese boxer defeated the Filipino Marlon Tapales and entered boxing history.
Naoya Inoue, a super lightweight boxer, defeated Marlon Tapales. Inoue previously held the WBC and WBO titles, which he won from Stephen Fulton. While Tapales won the WBA and IBF belts after his fight with Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
Inoue knocked out Tapales in the 10th round. In the fourth round, Marlon fell. The match took place at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
Thus, Inoue became the first undisputed super lightweight champion, introduced in 1976. Naoya became the second undisputed world champion in two divisions in the four-belt era.
Let’s remember that Joshua has previously beaten Wallin in dominant style.
