American fighter Justin Gaethje on a social network talked about a possible fight with the Russian UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev calling on the promotion’s management to organize the fight.
– I’m waiting for a call. Ready when you’re ready. UFC, (head of the organization) Dana White. Let’s see who can cut off the other’s head first. Oliveira had a chance, but did not show up for the rematch,” Gaethje wrote.
Gaethje scored victories against Azerbaijani representative Rafael Fiziev and compatriot Dustin Poirier in 2023; the 35-year-old fighter ranks second in the UFC lightweight rankings.
Makhachev defended his title in a fight with Australian Alexander Volkanovski in February, in October he was supposed to meet Charles Oliveira, but the Brazilian withdrew from the fight due to injury. The Russian defended his belt in a new fight with Volkanovski.
