Hrgovic is the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight belt held by Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk
Mandatory challenger for IBF heavyweight title Filip Hrgovic commented on the upcoming heavyweight unification match between the champion WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO Alexander Usyk and title holder WBC Tyson Fury.
“I believe in Usyk’s victory. I think it’s a 50/50 fight, a tough fight for both of them. But I give Usyk a slight advantage in this fight because he is always in great shape, he has great footwork, he throws a lot of punches. He’s a really good fighter,” Philip emphasized.
Hrgovic is the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight belt held by Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk. The winner of Usik’s fight with Tyson Fury will be required to defend his title without any intermediate fights. Otherwise, the IBF belt will become vacant, and the Croatian will need to find an opponent for the title fight.
In his last fight, the Croatian heavyweight defeated Mark De Mori from Australia. The technical victory by knockout took place in the first round. The fight took place as part of the “Day of Reckoning” boxing evening in Saudi Arabia.
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the fight was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
