“In ASA tournaments, our nationality is MMA” – Mairbek Khasiev

ACA founder Mairbek Khasiev said the league does not pay attention to nationalities, but promotes unity through sport.

Russian fighter Mikhail Mokhnatkin was pelted with bottles on Sunday after his fight with Faridun Odilov of Tajikistan at the ACA 168 tournament in Moscow. Odilov later apologized for his fans’ behavior.

— Russia is a multinational country and the key word for us is unity. The task of villains is to sow interethnic discord and thereby resolve their personal problems. We are far from politics, but that does not mean that we are blind and do not see how some people try to use sport for their own ends.

The ASA League is a multinational team. Each of us is unique in our own way, and the imaginary “superiority” of some over others will not work here. We promote sport, a healthy lifestyle, friendship, love, mutual aid and internationalism. We try to show the right guidelines to young people.

We must seek what unites us and firmly remove what prevents us from doing so. Sport is not an inter-ethnic confrontation, it is a confrontation between different styles, schools, classes and levels. And if at home we are of different nationalities, then at ACA tournaments our nationality is MMA,” Khasiev wrote on his social networks.
