Undefeated Russian fighter Ibragim Dauev (8-0) will compete in the ONE Fight Night 18 tournament, which takes place on January 13.
In a fight according to MMA rules at bantamweight (65.8 kg), Dauev will face New Zealand fighter Mark Abelardo.
Dauev started his professional career in 2019 and has currently had eight professional fights in which he has suffered no defeats. The 22-year-old fighter from the Akhmat club won most of his victories ahead of schedule. Dauev performed in the ACA Young Eagles and World Fighters Championship promotions. Dauev recently signed a contract with promotional company ONE Chance and received the opportunity to immediately perform on ONE’s main roster.
His opponent, Abelardo, 32, has had 10 fights in the ONE Championship league, winning five and losing five. The New Zealand fighter has been competing in ONE since 2019. He grew up in his father’s dojo and began training under a black belt in karate when he was just 10 years old. At the age of 17, he added BJJ and kickboxing to his training and quickly became interested in mixed martial arts, and a year later he made his debut in amateur cage fighting. An impressive 17-5 record with 13 finishes earned him a contract to compete on Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series and eventually land a contract with ONE Championship.
Other Russian fighters will also participate in the tournament: Artem Belakh (9-2) and Shamil Gasanov (13-1). The OFN 18 main event will feature Superlek and Elias Mahmoudi for the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship (61.2kg).
