The exhibition fight will consist of six three-minute rounds
The date and place of the fight between the former world champion in eight weight categories has been officially announced Manny Pacquiao and multiple world champion in Thai boxing Buakaw Banchamek. It will take place in Bangkok (Thailand) on April 20, 2024.
The confrontation, called the “Match of Legends,” will take place at the Impact Arena. The fight will take place according to international boxing rules in the format of “six three-minute rounds with two-minute breaks.”
This fight was planned back in July. Then it was reported that the martial arts legends agreed on an intermediate weight of 70 kilograms.
Pacquiao has officially announced his retirement in 2021. In his last fight, “Pac Man” lost to Yordenis Ugas by decision. At the same time, according to the latest information, Manny wants to finally end his professional career at the Olympic Games in Paris.
In August, Manny announced his desire to return to professional boxing. The exhibition fight against Banchamek will be his first in almost a year.
In late November, promoter Bob Arum hinted that Pacquiao might be interested in fighting Josh Taylor. Recently, former UFC champion in two weight categories Conor McGregor challenged the 45-year-old Filipino to a fight.
41-year-old Banchamek gained fame in fights according to the rules of Muay Thai, kickboxing and shootboxing. Buakaw became the first two-time winner of the K-1 World MAX Grand Prix in history. Banchamek had his last fight in May 2023 against Anpo Ryukiya at the Rizin 42 show. The fight ended in a draw.
