The Ukrainian lost by decision
Ukrainian boxer fight Sergei Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KO) with the Mexican Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KO) recognized best male fight 2023 according to ESPN.
The fight took place in the Californian city of Ontario at the Toyota Arena in June. The boxers fought for the WBC Silver belt in the second middle weight category.
Derevyanchenko and Munguia had an even fight, landing a wide variety of punches. The Ukrainian was knocked down in the 12th round – this predetermined the outcome of the fight. By a small margin, all three judges gave the victory to the Mexican (115:112, 114:113, 114:113).
Derevyanchenko will fight his next fight against American Rowdy Montgomery. The fight will take place on January 6, 2024 in Las Vegas. The central event of the boxing evening will be the return of WBO International welterweight title holder Virgil Ortiz in a fight with Fredrick Lawson.
