Wilder’s coach: We have Ruiz, Usyk, Fury, Dubois in a very good position

Malik Scott assessed potential opponents for the ex-champion

Malik Scottcoach of ex-world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, assessed the likely opponents for the American in future fights. Scott believes that Wilder will be able to qualify for fights with champions Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

“Who do we have. We have Andy Ruiz who is still looking for opponents. There is Usyk and Fury. Daniel Dubois is in a very good position there right now. There are a few guys there now.”

“But the most important thing for me is that Deontay is okay, spiritually, mentally and physically – that’s what interests me more. I know that when Deontay is fully ready, none of these guys can beat him. Right now, after this defeat and such a performance, I don’t really want to call the guys. “I focus on the bigger picture: getting him spiritually, mentally and physically healthy.”

Let us remember that in one of the two main fights of the “Day of Reckoning” boxing evening in Riyadh on the night of December 23-24, 38-year-old Wilder lost to 31-year-old New Zealander Parker by unanimous decision. After the defeat, Deontay hinted at his possible retirement from boxing.

Wilder’s defeat casts doubt on the fight between the American and Anthony Joshua. It was reported that the boxers agreed to fight on March 9, but for the event to take place, they had to defeat their opponents in Riyadh.

Deontay himself believes that his fight with Joshua in March is still possible. Wilder also suggested that the Briton’s team would use his failure as a reason to abandon the fight.
