The promoter also announced a big event in March, which will be held in Saudi Arabia
Promoter Frank Warren commented on the holding of a unification fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between the holder of the WBC championship belt Tyson Fury and champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO versions Alexander Usik.
“We are working on [другими боями]and there will be a press conference in early January to announce the undercard of the Tyson and Alexander show, as well as what will happen in March.”
“Usyk-Fury fight? It will be very interesting, that’s for sure. This will be a big battle. All this changed the rules of the game. I used this phrase from the very beginning of the Tyson vs. Ngannou fight. I just felt like it was going to lead to something special, and the last performance was special.”
“The event, which will take place on February 17, is very, very special: all the titles are on the line. With four belts on the line, it’s going to be great. The rest of the guys have to keep winning, keep fighting for the win and get the right to fight the winner in the future.”
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the fight was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that Tyson would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
