Lou DiBellapromoter of former world lightweight champion George Kambososspoke about negotiations with the team of the former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“We are targeting a potential Lomachenko-Kambosos fight in 2024 in Australia. I hope that we can come to an agreement with Top Rank and announce something soon. We choose the date and location of the fight, and work on deals with the fighters.”
In December, promoter Bob Arum confirmed that the fight between Lomachenko and Kambosos for the vacant IBF lightweight title would take place in April 2024 in Australia.
Lomachenko fought his last fight in May 2023, losing to Devin Haney in the fight for the title of absolute world champion. Many experts then considered that the result of the fight was unfair. After the defeat, Vasily decided to take a vacation until the end of the year.
In his last fight, Kambosos defeated Briton Maxie Hughes to win the IBO lightweight title. The Australian also suffered both losses in his professional career against Devin Haney.
