Algieri: Usyk is a phenomenal fighter and is in the top 3 P4P for a reason. But Fury is on the same level, plus he’s huge

At the same time, Chris calls Tyson “Joker” – it is unknown which version of him will fight against the Ukrainian champion

Former WBO world welterweight champion Chris Algieri shared his opinion about the upcoming fight for the undisputed title between the holder of the WBC heavyweight championship belt Tyson Fury and champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO versions Alexander Usik.

“I always gave the advantage to Fury over Usyk. Also, Usyk didn’t look very good against Daniel Dubois (in August).”

“Is there a path to victory for Usyk? Of course he is a phenomenal fighter. There’s a reason we talk about him as #3 pound-for-pound. This guy is a great fighter and a great competitor. Tyson Fury is not only on the same level, he is also huge. But at the same time he is a joker. We don’t know which version of Fury will emerge.”

“I think we will see another great performance from Fury. I think Tyson doesn’t have much time left, at least one more time he can get back to that well and get a big win and do it in impressive fashion.”

At the end of December, the authoritative magazine The Ring ranked Usik in third place in the ranking of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world (P4P), after Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue.

The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the fight was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that Tyson would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.

Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.

Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
