RCC chief names potential rival for Shlemenko in August 26 fight

RCC Executive Director Nikolai Klimenko in an interview with said that as an opponent of a Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Alexandra Chlemenko According to the Aug. 26 fight in Yekaterinburg, former UFC fighter Brazilian Ronaldo Alligator Souza is being considered.

Initially, on August 26, Shlemenko was supposed to meet his compatriot Magomed Ismailov, but the latter does not have time to recover on these dates. Their fight has been postponed until December.

– We will be hosting an equally high-profile event on August 26 in Yekaterinburg, and that tournament will be led by the Shlemenko fight. Who will be the opponent, we will determine in the coming week. Now there are several candidates.

– Can you tell us who you consider to be Shlemenko’s rival?

– We are working on the option with Souza, said the Alligator, the negotiations have already been going on for a long time, we will see how it will end, it is one of the options.

– And how do you like the sign of the duel between Shlemenko and Yasubey Enomoto? The Swiss samurai is a friend of Ismailov. Here it would be nice to beat.

It is possible, but in the future. Right now I want to see new names. The rematch with Enomoto is not interesting for Alexander. Although Yasubey is certainly interested. Maybe in the future we will have such a duel. Enomoto only becomes more spectacular and interesting with age.

– Earlier, the fees of Shlemenko and Ismailov were announced, which will amount to 300,000 dollars each. Will Shlemenko’s fee for August 26 fight be the same?

“This is an individual contract that I cannot disclose.

Who will play on the August show undercard?

– The map is still being formed, but Ivan Shtyrkov will perform in the co-main event, the opponent will sign a contract in the near future. Timur Nagibin and Boris Medvedev will also enter the octagon. There will be more interesting names,” Klymenko said.

Due to Shlemenko, 38, 61 wins, 13 losses. Souza, 42, has 26 wins and 10 losses. The Brazilian has been playing in the UFC since May 2013, and his last fight (also in the UFC) was in May 2015. Souza is on a 4-fight losing streak. In 2006, the Brazilian beat Shlemenko earlier than expected.
