Fight between mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Alexander Shlemenko and Magomed Ismailov will not take place in August and will be rescheduled in December, said RCC, the promotion company organizing the fight.
Shlemenko and Ismailov announced their fight in December last year, they planned to fight in July. But in April, Ismailov announced that he had undergone knee surgery and was actively recovering. In May, the fighters signed a contract for a fight under MMA rules, scheduled for August 26 in Yekaterinburg.
– Magomed Ismailov has no time to recover from knee surgery. The bald predator is set to step into the cage in September, but the all-star fight will headline a numbered tournament to be held shortly before the new year, the league said in a statement.
At the same time, Shlemenko will perform in the August 26 show in Yekaterinburg, but the opponent will be announced later.
– Alexander Shlemenko’s fight remains on the program of the RCC 12 tournament, so the show will be no less noisy. Our next numbered tournament is scheduled for December, the fight between Shlemenko and Ismailov fits perfectly at the end of the year, and the postponement does not affect our organization’s schedule overall,” said RCC Executive Director Nikolay Klimenko.
