The World Boxing Association (WBA) has announced that the mandatory challenger in the fight for the WBA super light heavyweight title, held by the Russian Dmitry Bivol is the Mexican Gilberto Ramirez.
The parties must reach an agreement on the duel within 30 days, the deadline will expire on August 10.
Bivol’s last mandatory title defense was on March 3, 2018, with the next scheduled to take place after March 2020. Because of this, he has to face Ramirez.
The Mexican won the right to be the official candidate after beating German Dominic Bezel in May this year.
Bivol, 31, beat Mexican Saul Alvarez in his last fight in May. In total, in the professional ring, the Russian boxer won 20 victories in 20 fights (11 by KO), 31-year-old Ramirez won all 44 fights (30 by KO).
