Last September, it became known that Johnson had applied for Russian citizenship. It was reported that the boxer plans to receive the middle name Vladimirovich in honor of the President of Russia.

In the professional ring, Johnson fought 60 fights, winning 36 victories (20 of them by knockout), suffering 22 defeats and two fights ended in draws. In 2009, he was defeated by Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko in a fight for the WBC title.
