Representative of the Leningrad team Andrei Kosenkov said he was attracted to the format of the All-Russian ” Victory Cup” tournament.
Kosenkov, who is competing in weight up to 80kg on Sunday at the fourth stage of the tournament in St. Petersburg, beat Kama’s Vitaly Kotov by unanimous decision of the judges and guaranteed his team the overall victory in the encounter.
– The emotions after the fight are mixed, but it was cool, because it’s my debut in the tournament, the first semi-professional fight. There is a difference here, since we use different gloves, respectively, the hits are harder. It was hard to get used to the first two rounds, but later I got used to it and started working successfully. From the third lap, the initiative was in my hands. I planned the atmosphere in order to correctly distribute the forces. In the beginning, I watched the opponent carefully, how he works, followed his fighting style. The fourth lap was decisive and I’m glad I could win. In the future, I plan to compete in professional boxing, because I liked the format,” Kosenkov told reporters.
The prize for the Victory Cup tournament is 20 million rubles.
