Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov received an award named in honor of Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the press service of the award reported.
The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday in Dubai. The award has been awarded since 2009. It honors individuals, teams and organizations that have made significant contributions to the development of sport in the UAE and around the world.
“Congratulations to Khabib Nurmagomedov on winning the 12th Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for his high-level achievements,” the message read.
Nurmagomedov, 35, retired professionally in 2020 and remained undefeated inside the Octagon, where he had 29 victories in 29 fights.
