American-born boxer Kevin Johnson received a passport as a citizen of the Russian Federation, reports a correspondent.
Johnson received the document on Thursday in Moscow. The boxer wore a T-shirt bearing the image of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
– Good morning! How are you doing? Happy birthday to me,” reports a correspondent, reporting Johnson’s words.
Johnson was granted Russian citizenship on Tuesday under Putin’s decree. The American addressed the head of state on April 1, 2023 to ask him to obtain a Russian passport. Earlier it was reported that the 44-year-old boxer presented the necessary documents in Samara.
Earlier Thursday, promoter Vladimir Khryunov told that Johnson’s first fight as a Russian citizen would be a February boxing match against Vyacheslav Datsik .
In the professional ring, Johnson has 35 victories, 21 defeats and two draws. The American met in fights with Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora and others.
