The American claims that perhaps a revenge “does not make sense”
Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) says his next fight may not be a rematch against former unified champion George Kambosos Jr. (20-1, 10 KOs) in October.
Haney says his team is weighing options for his next fight in October and the opponent could be someone other than Kambosos.
“We have to see what happens next. I dont know. We weigh our options. Maybe it will, and maybe not [матч-реванш с Камбососом]”Haney said.
“We have to see what makes the most sense for my team and me, and that’s what’s next. In October we will fight, but we don’t know who is next.”
“They are [команда Камбососа] can come here [в США] and get a fight, or if we go to Australia it should make sense for us to come back. You know what it means to “make sense”.
“I took less money for my team and myself to go there against the odds. We came out victorious, like him against Theo [Лопеса]”.
“To him [Камбососу] paid well and he did well. So if you want us to come back, you have to do the right thing so that my team and I can be there again. We had a good holiday and now we need to get back to work. We have to see who will be the next opponent, but we are preparing.”
Recall that in the duel for the title of absolute world champion Haney defeated Kambosos by unanimous decision of the judges – 116:112, 116:112 and 118:110. After that, George activated the option of a rematch with Haney.
One of Haney’s possible rivals could be Vasily Lomachenko, who in July announced his readiness to return to the ring. It is expected that Vasily will fight his fight after a long pause in October.
