Gilberto Ramirez wants to fight Usyk in the heavyweight division

The Mexican is preparing to win the WBA light heavyweight title

Mexican light heavyweight Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs) plans to move up to the superweight category in the future. Undefeated boxer wants to meet Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

“Of course I want to move up to heavyweight. When I become the undisputed champion and have a defense, then I can start working on moving up.”

“Who would be a good heavyweight opponent for me? I think Usyk. He is good. Naturally, I want to fight the best, that’s the way it should be, right?”

Ramirez thinks Usyk will beat Anthony Joshua. In his opinion, the Briton is an easier opponent due to his weak ability to take a hit.

“Anthony would be an easier opponent for me. I’m sure Usyk will beat Joshua again. He will probably knock him out, ”Ramirez said.

Gilberto is the mandatory challenger for the WBA world title held by Russian Dmitry Bivol. The teams of both boxers must agree on a future fight before August 10.

The second fight between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia. The fight will be broadcast live on the DAZN streaming platform.

Last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision to become world heavyweight champion for the first time.
