Coach Ngannou: We’ll use some of what Usyk did against Joshua

The mentor of the former UFC champion intends to take advantage of the successful experience of the Ukrainian champion in the confrontation with A.J.

Eric Niksiktrainer of former UFC champion Francis Ngannouspoke about the features of preparation for the fight against the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

In particular, the mentor intends to take advantage of the successful experience of the Ukrainian champion Alexandra Usika in a confrontation with a British heavyweight.

“The only thing I really remember was the fight [Александра] Usyk with Joshua and watching the southpaw Usyk attack Anthony Joshua. [Я возьму] some of what I’ve seen Usyk do, and I’ll apply it to Francis, but put my own spin on it.”

In previous years, we recall, Joshua and Usyk had two head-to-head fights. The Ukrainian triumphed in both 2021 and 2022. Both confrontations lasted 12 rounds.

Earlier, promoter Eddie Hearn announced that his protégé Joshua would fight Ngannou next in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The official press conference dedicated to the event will be held on January 15 in London.

The fight is expected to take place on March 9. Anthony’s fight with Deontay Wilder was scheduled for this date before the American lost to Joseph Parker.

At the end of December, Joshua confidently defeated Otto Wallin, who refused to continue the fight after the 5th round, as part of the “Day of Reckoning”. Anthony stated that he was ready to fight the next fight with anyone.

Ngannou lost a decision to WBC champion Tyson Fury in his only boxing fight. The Cameroonian made a good impression against the current champion title holder, knocking down the “Gypsy King” and inflicting several cuts on the Briton.
