The head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team Gogi Koguashvili in an interview with said that among those who were not allowed to participate in the ranking tournament in Croatia was the Olympic champion . Musa Evloev.

The United World Wrestling (UWW) Zagreb Open ranking tournament took place in Zagreb from January 12 to 14. Russian Greco-Roman wrestlers competed in neutral status and won five medals: gold for Milad Alirzaev (up to 87 kg) and Sadyk Lalaev (up to 60 kg), bronze for Alan Ostaev (up to 87 kg), Aslan Visaitov (up to 67 kg) and Anvar Allahyarova (up to 60 kg).

— Five medals at the Zagreb tournament. How do you rate the team’s performance?

— It was a good performance. The team went to the tournament with an incomplete squad – only five out of ten athletes, and they were able to win five medals. Our federation works hard and persistently to bring Russian wrestlers back to the international level. Little by little, the number of accepted guys increases and there is a chance that we will be allowed to fully participate in the European Championship.

-Who was not allowed in?

— Our leaders Sergei Stepanov and Sergei Kutuzov in the weight category up to 77 kg, Ilya Ermolenko and Olympic champion Musa Evloev in the weight category up to 97 kg, as well as Marat Kamparov in the weight category up to 130kg. I was also not able to enter, even though I filled out the necessary documents,” Koguashvili told .

In March 2022, the UWW suspended Russian athletes from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine, and in April 2023 it allowed them to participate with neutral status.
