Head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team Gogi Koguashvili in an interview with , he said the team hopes to win all six Olympic licenses to participate in the 2024 Games in Paris.

Russians will be able to compete for Olympic licenses in Greco-Roman wrestling at the European Championships in Baku (Azerbaijan) from April 4 to 7 and at the world license tournament in Istanbul (Turkey) from May 9 to 12. The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11 and wrestlers will compete for medals in six weight categories.

— Under the most favorable evolution of the events, how many Olympic licenses can you win?

— We want to take all the Olympic licenses. It’s possible. I saw how the guys fought in Croatia, it was a small world championship. If they continue to fight the same way, then all licenses will be available. We definitely need to obtain licenses in each type, that is, six licenses,” Koguashvili told .

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on December 8 that it would grant neutral status to Russian and Belarusian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Russian athletes will be able to perform in Paris without a flag , anthem and other national symbols. The IOC banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who had expressed support for the SVO.

In March 2022, the United World of Wrestling (UWW) suspended Russian athletes from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine, and in April 2023, it allowed them to participate with neutral status.
