UFC fighter Nikita Krylov (27-9) talked about how his preparation for the fight with former title contender Alexander Gustafsson is going.
Gustafsson (18-7 in UFC) is one of the tallest fighters in the division (height – 195cm) and has already lost by decision to Daniel Cormier and Jones Jones.
– Alexander Volkov helped a lot – we worked well with him. He spent time and suggested a lot – I am especially grateful to him. During my training camp in Kislovodsk, Kirill Kornilov and Sergei Bilostenny came to see me. Sergei is smaller, but he can get tired. And Kirill is very sensitive, an excellent drummer, multiple Thai boxing world champion, with good hands.
– And what concrete could Volkov offer?
– Since we have the same base, karate, he said how I could show my strengths more clearly, how to strike a blow better. For example, on my way out, I sometimes kick left and not take a step back. And Sasha says it’s better to “settle” in this episode, take a step back. Or if we talk about taking a stand, when you have to press, he explained how to do it better. Because I can work as a second number, especially with guys like Sasha, who weigh 120 kg, it’s very difficult to push them. But he told me how to do it.
Krylov’s fight with Gustafsson will take place at the UFC tournament in London on July 23.
