South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis After winning the UFC middleweight title, he challenged former New Zealand division champion Israel Adesanya to a fight.
Du Plessis defeated American Sean Strickland on Saturday at UFC 297 in Toronto, Canada, to become the organization’s new champion.
“Adesanya, get your ass back here so we can settle the score,” Du Plessis said after the fight.
Du Plessis has 21 wins and two losses in MMA. Adesanya has not competed since September 2023, when he lost to Strickland in their title fight at UFC 293 in Sydney.
