Former UFC champ Pyotr Yan doesn’t believe relevance of Ismailov vs. Shlemenko fight will fade due to postponement

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Pierre Yan told that from the new report, the relevance of the duel between Magomed Ismailov and Alexander Shlemenko is not going anywhere.

The fight was supposed to take place in August in Yekaterinburg during the RCC 12 tournament, but in the end, the famous fighters will not enter the cage until December. The decision to postpone the date of the fight became known on July 12. Ismailov does not have time to restore his knee after a planned operation. Magomed was ready to fight in September, but eventually another option was chosen.

– I don’t think the relevance of this fight will go away if it’s postponed. The question is whether there are really justified reasons for this, to postpone the battle. If they exist – in connection with the health of Magomed, then, of course, this is the place to be. It’s sport, injuries, they are present. Here, the issue is more of leadership to the fighters. First they agreed, and now the postponement of the battle, the second, the third … How much the organization will need it, is not my question here. If they need it, they will fight this fight in December and February.

I think you should never leave without treatment. I think Magomed understands all the risks, it’s a big responsibility, it’s their story. Here’s a question for him,” said Yan, whose remarks were provided especially for by the Archangel Michael team press service.

Despite the postponement of the meeting with Ismailov, Shlemenko will still perform in Yekaterinburg at RCC 12. His opponent is still unknown, but will be announced soon. Immediately after the fight in Yekaterinburg, Storm will have another fight, but in his native Omsk.
