Hearn: Maybe Fury is a “downed pilot.” We will understand this on February 17th

The promoter is not sure that Ngannou’s quality performance against Fury is a sign of the Cameroonian’s strength and not the Briton’s weakness

Eddie Hearnpromoter of former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshuaspeculated about the qualities of his ward’s closest rival, the ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannouin the context of his recent fight against the WBC title holder Tyson Fury.

“He took Fury down and that gave him authority. What we don’t know is… was this an isolated incident? But we know that the confidence he gained from that fight will push him to success in his next fight.”

“But we looked at it now, and [тренера Джошуа] Ben Davison has 10 rounds to come up with a game plan. May be, [Фьюри] – “downed pilot”, we will understand this on February 17.”

“It’s very hard to imagine going into a fight and not having any idea what the other guy is going to do. You should understand this from the first stroke of the gong. How strong is Ngannou as a puncher? People tell us he’s a monster puncher, but is Fury’s chin still intact? We’ll have to find out.”

Let us remind you that recently the Saudi organizers of the largest boxing matches announced their desire to hold an event in which the winners of the fights Alexander Usyk – Fury and Joshua – Ngannou will meet.

Both events will take place in Riyadh. The Usyk-Fury fight will officially take place on February 17. The title of absolute heavyweight champion will be at stake in the fight. Initially, the fight was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.

Let us remind you that Fury defeated Ngannou by split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.

The fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou is planned to take place in the capital of Saudi Arabia on March 8.
