American MMA fighter Justin Gaethje suggested that the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev won’t be able to fight him in June.
Earlier, the 32-year-old Russian announced his desire to fight with Gaethje at the UFC tournament, which will take place on June 8.
“He wrote on social media that he wants to fight me, but I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe he has some kind of injury or something. I think he won’t fight until June or July,” MMA Fighting quotes Makhachev.
Makhachev’s professional record in mixed martial arts is 25 wins and one loss. In 2023, he made two successful defenses of his title in fights with Australian Alexander Volkanovski, and also rose to first place in the ranking of the best UFC fighters, regardless of weight category.
