In mid-November 2023, Mineev defeated Shtyrkov by unanimous decision under kickboxing rules. Mineev is a core kickboxer and holds the AMC Fight Nights middleweight belt. — According to my emotions, no. Yes, people in their predictions may have made different bets, seen a different battle scenario. I think everyone thought Mineev should take me down and not give me a chance. From the point of view of expectations, I should have acted more aggressively somewhere, so that there would be more dirt and cuts. But neither were justified, but I think the fight was worth it. Expectations don’t always match reality. This fight certainly did not disappoint me and my team. I talked to some professional kickboxers who approached me and they told me I had a good fight. Yes, the fight was not enchanting or breathtaking, but we showed a good, professional and close fight, ”Shtyrkov told .
— I immediately remember the photo of you and Mineev after the fight… You looked in such a way that one could ask: “Did these people fight?” There was no damage.
— There was some damage. This same Vova had a cut, but it was covered and did not bleed. But we had a good clash of heads. If you look closely, Mineev’s calf is knocked down – the low kicks are through. I probably have a little less damage, especially compared to the fight with Romankevich. But then Romankevich cut my head off with his elbow. So this is damage, but not quite standard and in profile – random damage (laughs). I understand that people love the show. I am ready to show my blood and that of my opponent somewhere. But this doesn’t always work. We don’t have any piercing or sharp objects with us (smiles). – Let’s finish the topic of your confrontation with Mineev. Will you have a second fight under MMA rules?
— Initially, we wanted it in May. But Vladimir, apparently, has his own affairs, projects, work. And in a conversation with Kamil (Gadzhiev, head of AMC Fight Nights), he proposed already at the end of the year. It will be interesting, everyone will be ready. Our agreement states that we must have an MMA fight by 2024, and December is also included in the calendar year (smiles). So the agreements are as follows: with a high degree of probability, our MMA fight with Mineev will take place in December at the New Year’s RCC tournament.
