Boxer Evgeny Tishchenko: “It is difficult for me to predict the winner of the Romanov-Zhaoxin fight”

WBA champion in bridge weight (new weight category, up to 101.6 kg) Yevgeny Tishchenko told that it was difficult for him to predict the winner of the fight between Russian Evgeny Romanov and Chinese Zhang Zhaoxin.

The fight between Romanov and Zhaoxin will take place on February 10 in Yekaterinburg, with the WBA bridgeweight mandatory challenger title at stake. 2016 Olympic champion Tishchenko holds the title in this weight category.

Romanov has 19 victories (12 by KO). The Russian, who beat Deontay Wilder earlier than expected in his amateur career, last entered the ring in September in Yekaterinburg, when he defeated Venezuelan Wilmer Vazquez by unanimous decision.

Zhaoxin has 11 wins, two losses and one draw. The Chinese boxed for the WBA cruiserweight belt in 2021 and lost to Belgian Riyad Merhi. Romanov occupies second place in the WBA rankings in bridge weight (up to 101.6 kg), Zhaoxin is fourth. Tishchenko won the vacant WBA bridgeweight belt in December.
