Ivan Shtyrkov told how he was repeatedly shot with a traumatic weapon during his student years

Russian fighter Ivan Shtyrkov in an interview with , he told how during his student years in Yekaterinburg he was shot with a traumatic weapon.

Chtyrkov, 35, has 22 victories in MMA, as well as two defeats and a draw. On February 24, Shtyrkov will fight with Vagab Vagabov in kickboxing at the RCC 18 tournament. In the fight in the weight category up to 100 kg, there are three rounds of three minutes each.

— Vagab, in biographical interviews, spoke about his life journey, emphasizing that he was shot. Have you ever had similar cases in your life?

— I understand when Vagab Vagabov lived. I also lived during this time. They shot me too. But they shot me with a traumatic weapon.

– Tell me?

– What is it… The ordinary life of young people. As it was called – an arrow or a gathering. During the conversation, something went wrong and someone started shooting instead of fighting (laughs). And a few bullets hit my legs, leaving me with scars. Nothing critical, the skin was just damaged (laughs). Well, here’s the story, well, so what – they lived in Uralmash. The usual thing. The boys were solving problems and someone took a sip (laughs). It was at university.

Yes, there were different situations. We had a “Chili” club in our town, it seems to still exist. We rested and went out. The guys didn’t like something and they started shooting at us from the car. My hand was slightly stuck. This is how we lived.

– Now you talk about these precedents with a smile, but do you understand what the consequences could be?

– Certainly! As they say, I felt better, there were no consequences, so I smiled. But this is not normal, this should not happen. I just lived it and let it pass through myself, to be able to tell my life story both with a smile and with tears.

And so… Ivan Shtyrkov, in fact, may not have existed as a professional athlete. I’m not talking about the fact that they could have killed. But they could cause injuries that are incompatible with sports practice. It was such a time… I’m not saying that I lived in the 90s, I crowded out parking lots or drove people on the asphalt. This time is over… In the 2000s, the government was already in place, but the echoes remained. Now it’s even better. Previously, this was somewhere propagated by the older generation, but we grew up hearing the elders tell us this.

—Did you take anything with you to the shooting range?

– They never took anything. I trained at the Uralmash sambo school and my circle of friends consists mainly of athletes. And we had certain skills. At the same time, the athlete always controlled himself in any extreme situation. And there have been times when unprepared people found themselves in such situations. And they didn’t show very good examples. A well-mannered athlete will not allow himself to exceed certain values in order to inflict excessive damage or somehow mock his opponent. There have been no such examples in my life. And so yes, they fought. Yes, ordinary boys.

“And here I must add: “You listened to my monologue. And that’s how you DON’T do it” (laughs).

– Certainly! I’m talking about the past, and it shouldn’t be the present. But a man must be able to defend himself, his loved ones, his wife and his children. It is not necessary that he be an international boxer or an Olympic champion, but a man must understand that he must be able to defend himself and those close to him. I am 100% convinced of this,” Chtyrkov said in an interview with .
