“Athletes receive personal invitations to the Olympic Games, but the admission conditions are unacceptable” – Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation

Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation Tatiana Kirienko said that Russian athletes have received individual invitations to participate in the Paris Olympic Games, but the admission requirements are unacceptable.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on December 8 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games to benefit from individual neutral status. In Paris, Russian and Belarusian athletes can only compete in neutral individual status (AIN), without flags, anthems and other national symbols. The IOC banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CBO.

— Now personal Olympic invitations are coming, including for boxers. But we have a clear position. The strength of our organization lies in the fact that we consult and help each other. No one hides or conceals anything. Only together can we succeed. Yes, the guys received personal invitations. But the conditions were absolutely unacceptable. If you gain neutral status, you won’t even be able to take a photo with the national flag in the background. There’s a nightmare out there. There, they do everything to make people leave the country. And who will leave us, but that never happened! And these personal invitations are such an act… This is wrong, ”Kirienko said during a speech at the IV All-Russian Boxing Forum.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
