Beterbiev: ‘My American coach, not being Muslim, said he didn’t drink or smoke because Ali did’

Russian Arthur Beterbiev called one of the most famous boxers in history, Muhammad Ali, his idol.

WBC, WBO and IBF champion Beterbiev moved to Canada after turning to professional boxing in 2013. Of Beterbiev’s 20 professional fights, only eight took place outside of Canada.

— Muhammad Ali is an example (for me). I believe that if you are a boxer or an athlete, you should promote a healthy and sporty lifestyle. He shared these (values). Thousands of people followed him. My American coach, not being Muslim, said he didn’t drink or smoke because Ali did. In terms of skills, he is also number one for me,” reports the correspondent, according to Beterbiev’s words.

Earlier, the manager of WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, Vadim Kornilov, told that the fight for the absolute title of world champion between Bivol and Beterbiev could take place in Saudi Arabia on June 1.
