The fight between the “Gypsy King” and Alexander Usik has been postponed due to the Briton’s injury
WBC heavyweight belt holder Tyson Fury commented on his injury, due to which the fight for the title of absolute world champion with the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles was postponed Alexander Usik.
“I’m absolutely devastated after having trained for so long for this fight and being in such great shape. “I feel sorry for everyone involved in this huge event and will be working hard to reschedule as soon as the eye heals.”
Earlier it became known that the “Gypsy King” was injured during training. The Briton had to get stitches, which is why he does not have time to recover for the fight for the title of absolute world champion.
Fury’s team informed Usyk that the restoration of the “Gypsy King” would take several months. Representatives of the Ukrainian began searching for a new closest rival. Mandatory challenger for the IBF title Filip Hrgovic is called Usik’s likely next opponent.
The fight for the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight was supposed to take place on February 17 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The special guest of the event was Lennox Lewis. The undercard featured fights between former IBF cruiserweight world champion Jay Opetai, 19-year-old Moses Itauma and IBF super featherweight world champion Joe Cordina.
