The promoter insists that the fight with Usik will definitely take place later
Frank WarrenWBC champion promoter Tyson Fury, spoke about the injury the Briton received during training. Warren insists that the fight for the undisputed title with the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight world champion Alexander Usik will definitely take place later.
“This is the biggest blow for Tyson. He worked and trained very hard for this fight and unfortunately suffered a terrible injury. This happened this morning during a sparring session with a Croatian heavyweight who hit him in the eye with an elbow.”
“The fight has been postponed and I am sure that in due course we will announce a new date for the fight. Of course, I believe that it will happen. This is what everyone signed up for,” the promoter said.
Let us remind you that Fury was injured during sparring on Friday. The Briton’s injury required stitches, due to which Tyson does not have time to recover by the date of the fight with Usyk.
Usik’s team is considering Filip Hrgovic as the main candidate to replace Tyson. The fight is scheduled to take place on February 17, when the fight for the undisputed title with the Briton was planned.
