“This language and such conversations seemed wrong to me” – Dolidze about the fight with Chimaev

Georgian fighter Roman Dolidze in an interview with he spoke about this act Khamzata Chimaeva what he didn’t like.

Dolidze, eighth in the middleweight rankings, announced that he is ready to fight Chimaev in the under 84 kg category. Khamzat competed in the UFC in two weight categories (up to 77.1 and up to 84 kg) and in the near future he will probably focus on middleweight. Dolidze is scheduled to fight Feb. 3 against Nassurdin Imavov in the main event bout at UFC Fight Night 235 in Las Vegas.

— Merab Dvalishvili, your comrade and compatriot, said on a podcast that you caught Khamzat Chimaev in the leg and he was very angry about it. You have always been opposed to what happened in a fight becoming public. Are you unhappy that this has become known?

– Yes, I don’t think this is good and correct, I myself am not a supporter of such conversations. But Merab considered it necessary to talk about it, and Khamzat did not react in any way, which means everything is fine.

– You wanted to fight with Khamzat Chimaev.

— When I asked for this fight, Khamzat could no longer make the 77 kg weight category, he had to move up to 84 kg. So this would be very interesting for him, because he could immediately fight with a top 10 fighter. A good start if that’s what he wanted. But he didn’t react at all. I met him later in Thailand. Nothing unusual happened.

— Would you be interested in fighting Chimaev now? Or is it no more interesting than with any other fighter?

— It would be interesting with Chimaev, because he is known, people know him and for me that would be a plus. Now, for example, I don’t understand why he got to the top when he beat a fighter in the 77 kg category (Kamaru Usman). Why is this happening all of a sudden? This, in principle, says a lot about the importance of the rating, to what extent it actually reflects the situation. And I didn’t like his words in a video one bit. There was one episode, they showed him pictures of fighters, and he just said “smash-smash,” and there was my picture. I didn’t like this language and these conversations. I don’t think they are correct. Plus, we are both from the same region. You must be careful what you say, think before expressing your opinion. Now I have a completely different attitude to the question of competition with Chimaev,” Dolidze told .
